Our Soccer program, in partnership with the United Soccer Group (USG), opens up a unique and unparalleled opportunity for our students, ushering in a new era in the soccer world. This innovative collaboration, which leverages Darrow's educational leadership and USG's youth soccer development expertise, is poised to revolutionize the model of Prep School Soccer. Darrow competes in the Hudson Valley Athletic League (HVAL) and New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) athletic organizations.
In addition to partnering with USG to bring athletes to the School, its co-founder, Rich Powell accepted the role of Head Coach at Darrow. Hailing from the United Kingdom, Coach Powell has enjoyed a long and successful career in soccer. Since arriving in the U.S. in 2006, Coach Powell has held roles of Academy Director of the Soccer Domain Academy and Director of Coaching at the Pittsfield Soccer Club. From 2017, he has been the Head Boys Soccer Coach at Salisbury School in Salisbury, CT. Coach Powell has shown an ability to develop many student-athletes throughout his coaching career, guiding them to all three levels of college soccer. His vast network of connections will greatly assist Darrow Soccer players in pursuing their goal of becoming college athletes.
