B.F.A.: Ceramics, Maine College of Art Liz Daly Fougere serves as the Director of the Joline Arts Center and Art Department Chair at Darrow, where she has been inspiring students for 16 years. Liz’s passion for the visual arts began during high school, where her ceramics teacher gave her the freedom to explore jewelry-making instead of following the standard coiled vessel assignment. This pivotal moment, where her creativity was nurtured and encouraged, set the course for her career in the arts and remains a guiding principle in her teaching philosophy. At Darrow, Liz brings a sense of excitement and wonder to her classroom, encouraging students to explore the potential of various materials and discover their own creative paths. She is deeply committed to fostering self-discovery and artistic expression, helping students uncover their unique voices and arrive at their own answers through hands-on experimentation and thoughtful guidance. Liz finds immense fulfillment in mentoring students on their artistic journeys, witnessing their growth, and sharing in their moments of discovery. Her dedication to cultivating a vibrant and supportive artistic community has made her an invaluable part of the Darrow experience. |
