(ABD): History, Yale University Mika Saarela serves as the Associate Head of School, History Teacher, and Administrator on Duty (AOD) at Darrow, now in their ninth year. With over 25 years of experience as both a teacher and administrator, Mika is a steadfast advocate for the transformative power of small boarding schools. Their career has been driven by a dedication to understanding the qualities that make a learning community both healthy and successful. At Darrow, Mika finds those qualities reflected in every aspect of the school—from its unique mission to the rich programs that organically grow from it, all anchored by the school’s remarkable physical environment.
