Biography

Mark, a Darrow alum who graduated in 1972, is a testament to the power of diverse education. He holds a Bachelor of Psychology from Williams College, his junior year at Smith College, and a Juris Doctor from Washington and Lee University. Russel served on the Darrow Board as a trustee from 1974 to 1977 and 2004 to 2019.

Russell has practiced law for forty years, three years with West Virginia's largest law firm, and then in northern New Hampshire both as a sole practitioner and in partnerships, with a break from 1983 to 1985 teaching English and coaching cycling at The White Mountain School. From 1985 to 2020, his legal practice specialized in residential and commercial real estate transactions, business representation, estate planning, probate, and other civil matters in New Hampshire and Vermont.

In addition to his previous tenure on the Darrow Board, he has served on the boards of a small residential mental health facility, a local hospital, a parent organization for several hospitals, a home health and hospice agency, an owned trust and financial services firm, Mountain Biking Trail Network Organization, and The Frost Place, Robert Frost's former home in Franconia, New Hampshire.
