    Lacrosse vs. Hoosac (away)

In the first contest of Darrow's season-ending stretch of four road games, the Ducks traveled to Hoosick, New York to take on the Owls of Hoosac School in a hard-fought match that ended in a 5-16 loss for Darrow. Against an opponent who has traditionally been one of the strongest teams on Darrow’s schedule, the Darrow laxmen acquitted themselves valiantly, playing with determination, composure and spirit right down to the final horn. The Ducks’ goal production came from junior attackman Luke with 4 goals and senior attackman Frank with 1. Despite taking several hard shots off the body, junior goalkeeper Felix never let down, turning in another strong performance as he continues to learn his position, to grow in confidence, and to increase his game knowledge. Looking ahead, the team now hopes to add a second win for the season against Marvelwood when it travels to Bethlehem, Connecticut on Saturday to take on the Pterodactyls on their home turf.

    Lacrosse vs. Marvelwood (away)

In their second meeting of the season, Darrow Lacrosse again bested Marvelwood on the road, emerging with a 12-4 victory. In the absence of the team’s regular goalkeeper, attackman Luke ’18 took over between the pipes, turning in a strong and spirited performance. The Ducks’ offense featured some excellent playmaking, with several textbook goals set up by outstanding pinpoint assists. Finding the back of the Marvelwood net for Darrow were attackman Frank ’17 with 5 goals, attackman and co-captain Connor ’17 with 3, and, with 1 goal each, defenseman and co-captain Kevin ’17 (on another of his signature full-field clearing runs from defense), midfielder and co-captain Sam ‘18, midfielder Maddie ‘18, and midfielder Zion ‘17. Zion and fellow midfielder Leo ‘18, taking faceoffs for the first time in their careers, helped Darrow gain offensive possession and showed impressive potential as faceoff players. The Darrow players emerged from this win with renewed confidence and commitment to carrying the team’s momentum into its road match against the Master’s School in Simsbury, Connecticut on Monday.

    Lacrosse vs. Master's (away)

In the team’s closest and most exciting match of the season thus far, the Darrow laxmen put forth a determined effort against Master’s but fell short at the final horn by a score of 11-13. After Master’s got out to an early lead, Darrow battled back, playing aggressively to create scoring opportunities and twice evening the score. However, despite heroic efforts all around as the clock ran down, the Ducks were unable to close the gap in the final minutes of the game. The team’s scoring came from junior attackman Luke with 8, senior attackman Frank with 2, and junior co-captain and midfielder Sam with 1. The stickmen are now focused on preparing for their final contest of the season, when they trek to Croton-on-Hudson on Wednesday to take on Storm King. The Darrow players are firmly committed to closing out the season on a positive note with a strong team effort against Storm King.

    Lacrosse vs. Storm King (away)

The Darrow lacrosse team closed out its 2017 season on the road against Storm King, playing with spirit and determination but coming out on the wrong end of a 0-8 final score. Playing in the final game of their Darrow careers, the seniors on the team brought commendable intensity and leadership to the team’s stalwart effort. Although Darrow didn’t get a win, the determination, sportsmanship, resilience, and team spirit that carried the team through this match bode extremely well for the team’s success next year. A number of returning players turned in standout performances against Storm King, and the across-the-board improvement in the team’s individual and team play that culminated with this game will allow the Duck stickmen to hit the ground running next March. Despite this end-of-season loss, Darrow Lacrosse finished their 2017 campaign with a winning record of 5-4, and the team confidently looks forward to building on this success.

    Softball vs. Faith Christian (away)

Softball played their second game against Faith Christian Academy, which ended in an 11-1 loss. It was the first time in memory that Darrow forced FCA to play past the top of the 5th inning. This effort was spearheaded by Solana '18, who pitched the entire game and had several key outs. Crystal '18, Mia '17 and Cassidy '18 worked together on a double play. Mia also scored our only hit and run of the game. We look forward to our game against Poughkeepsie Day School on Friday.
