Boys AAA Basketball

Anderson played for the University of Memphis under Coach John Calipari in 110 games. He was the only Memphis player to record over 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 500 assists. Anderson graduated and played for NBA teams, the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Charlotte Bobcats.
Darrow AAA Team plays a highly competitive schedule in the NEPSAC AAA bracket. Our program is designed to prepare student-athletes for the next level on the court and aim to play at the NCAA level after their Darrow graduation.
The goal of the Darrow AAA basketball program is to play competitively within the NEPSAC Class AAA division and to be in a position to qualify for postseason play in the New England Tournament, as well as the National Prep Championships. While striving for a successful competitive record, coaches also teach team play, provide players with the best coaching in fundamental offensive and defensive skills, and help players grow in self-confidence and self-esteem.

Darrow School’s basketball program is open to any student regardless of previous experience. Darrow AAA Team plays a highly competitive schedule in the NEPSAC AA bracket. Our program is designed to prepare student-athletes for the next level on the court and aim to play at the NCAA level after their Darrow graduation. Coach Pennucci (4th year) has over 20 years of NEPSAC experience as a coach and faculty member. He was a founding member of the Boy's Basketball Prep Program after a successful stint in the South Kent program in CT. Notably, during his time at South Kent, he played a pivotal role in mentoring multiple NBA and DI players, demonstrating his ability to develop talent.

Darrow Girl’s Varsity team plays a moderately competitive schedule (15 - 20 games) in the Housatonic Valley Athletic League (HVAL) D bracket. Coach Streeter has sixteen years of basketball experience, including six college seasons as a Division One athlete and three years as a basketball trainer and coach. She brings her skills development, recruiting, and strategy expertise to lead and grow Darrow Girls Basketball.

Our program is a fast-paced, team-based competitive sport for seasoned gamers and enthusiasts alike. We compete with other high schools nationwide playing Valorant and League of Legends. Students hone their gaming talents as part of five-member teams. Like all team-based sports, the coach teaches gamesmanship and fosters confidence, communication, camaraderie, and leadership skills among members.

The sport of Lacrosse has been a competitive activity at Darrow for many years and is played during the spring season. The team takes pride in continuing the school's long-standing athletic tradition. They demonstrate their determination, team spirit, hard work, and good sportsmanship. It's worth noting that the Darrow Lacrosse team is co-ed and follows the boys' rules and equipment.

The Girls Softball team has a spirit you can feel. Players of varying skill levels come together around the love of the game. They are coached individually and collectively to achieve their potential, and game fundamentals and advanced skills are as much a part of the program as creating a supportive and motivating culture.
Non-Competitive Program
Darrow's Non-Competitive Program is a valuable part of our Athletic Program. We provide all students, regardless of skill level, opportunities to participate in athletics and cultivate a lifelong passion for fitness in a supportive and inclusive environment.
The Program offers various recreational activities catering to diverse interests and fitness levels. Students can choose from outdoor fitness, Alpine sports, Strength Training, and mixed martial arts activities. With a focus on fun and fitness, the Program encourages students to stay active and healthy while providing opportunities for socializing, gaining confidence and leadership skills, and making new friends.
We are committed to offering our students an enriching and well-rounded education at Darrow.
Activities
A range of recreational activities that cater to students' varying interests and fitness levels, providing students with a rewarding experience and equal opportunities for athletic excellence that align with their extracurricular requirements.
Theater: Students pursue opportunities in theater, which culminates with a performance.
Winter Alpine: Skiing and snowboarding at Bousquet Mountain and Jiminy Peak Mountain.
Farm and Garden: Hands-on exploration of agriculture and farming and vital societal role.
MMA: Promote physical and mental fitness by training in combat sports.
Outdoor Education: Hiking, rock climbing, snowshoeing, and other outdoor activities on our 365-acre campus.
